While I should probably be focusing on Spree and her recovery, I'll be writing about future endeavors today. I am saving up for a horribly expensive FitPaws ball (anyone who knows where to find one without $30 shipping).
Besides obsessing about waiting for the puppy, which is almost a full time obsession, I've also started on my training plan. Probably a good thing, since I didn't have one for Spree and look how she turned out. I know how that sounds, but she really is very undependable at doing anything. We're working on it, of course.
There are many many many foundation things that are going into the plan of course. I would like to make up my mind about the dogwalk and teeter, will it be running or stopped. There are a couple roadblocks to running, and that's I don't have a DW to practice on, and it takes tons of repetitions. The other is the issue of collection for a turn after DW. Many people have had success now training a true running contact, the rub is always the turn. A dog is still running if they are collected, but the striding that the dog has come to rely on will change. Finding a balance that allows a reliable contact and turn efficiently is still rare, in my opinion. Train a running and a stopped? You are asking too much of me. If Spree's contact is any reflection, just re-think what you just asked.
In the end I may go with the stopped. There are just so many more important things to train that play a bigger role to make or break a course. And I don't have time for them all.
